Based on this paper (which itself came because of Professor James Rushing pointing out the importance of the opening lines) I began paying more attention to the opening lines of the books I read. Here I wish to document some of the books I read in my free time outside of class. I’ll look at the first line (or lines if necessary) and talk about what they say and how they say it I may even include very short, relaxed reviews if I am feeling extra generous.

In other words, this page is for me to have fun and for you to see some of the things I like.
